- Adderley Charities Fun Ride 2012 -
I would just like to thank everyone involved yesterday for yet another gorgeous Adderley ride. I have been coming for many years and always enjoy it. Although some of the ground was a little like concrete the countryside looked beautiful and you are always so well organised with all your stewards who are all so cheerful!I must mention the catering ladies as well - delicious!.
Looking forward to 2013 and I hope you made lots of money.
Regards, Jenny Benoy

A BRIEF HISTORY
Adderley lies on the A529 (Market Drayton to Audlem) road, north of Market Drayton.
To the east of the village lies the Shropshire Union Canal and Adderley Wharf (with its new Farm Shop), where on a summer's day the hire boats work their way up or down the canal through a unique group of five closely-spaced locks bordered by well-tended towpaths and flower beds.
The Parish church is a plain, functional building dating back to Norman times but pleasantly situated on the outskirts of the village. Its size shows how populous the area must have been at one time when the village boasted a Manor House and many estate employees. It boasts a chapel with monuments of two local families of importance. These two families the Kilmoreys and the Corbets seem to have been in disagreement with each other for many centuries and the scandalous goings on make today's soaps pale into insignificance. Their continual rivalry even spread to the running and use of the chapel and church, as both felt they were in effect, the Lords of the Manor. The Corbets did however grant the land now used for the Village Hall, Play Park and Bowls Club to the village for its use.
